Belleville General Hospital is getting set to open a new unit next month.
It is called the Acute Care for the Elderly Unit, which is a 20 bed unit aimed at keeping older patients independent.
QHC has received NICHE designation, which stands for Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders, a national designation for commitment to elderly health care.
The new unit is part of the reorganization the hospitals have undergone, to help alleviate funding shortfalls from the province.
