Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward Hastings is working toward expanding its house building capabilities in the Quinte area.
Officials of Habitat for Humanity say they will turn over the keys to five families this year and more lots are becoming available.
Executive director Bob Clute says two houses in Belleville will be ready this summer and more city lots are coming once surplus land is released.
The new owner of a Habitat house in Belleville is Amanda Carr, a single mother of five children who works full time in the healthcare sector.
Clute says the families put in 500 hours of sweat equity.
Carr says she will be glad to have her family in a home and not have to be moving often.
She says she’ll be able to have the children in extracurricular activities.
