Quinte West Council has given the go ahead to start the process of building a residential hospice in the city.
Council has agreed to form a committee, including a local doctor, the mayor and two councillors, which will look into the feasibility of a community palliative care home.
Sidney Ward Councillor Karen Sharpe will sit on the committee and says they’ve got a lot of research to do.
And Sharpe says, as part of that research, they’re going to speak with staff at some other area hospices to see how a local one might compare.
Sharpe says the timeline is difficult to nail down since it’s so early in the process.
