A major sporting venue in Belleville is about to reach a major milestone.
May 21st will mark the 50th anniversary of the refurbishment of Alemite Park, which is now known as Tom Gavey Alemite Park. It was 1966 and the festivities included a Belleville and District Softball League game between the Ellis Juniors and Trudeau Motors. Playing at second base for Trudeau’s in that inaugural game was 18 year old Bob Wannamaker.
There were many notables in that game including Bob Ethier, Carl Boomhower, Patty Maracle and Larry Mavety.
