Local farmers and other residents interested in growing their own produce can benefit from a “lunch and learn event” next week.
The Bay of Quinte Remedial Action Plan is hosting the Farm Stewardship Lunch and Learn at the Thurlow Community Centre on March 22, with discussions on current topics that are important to farmers.
Organizer Sarah Midlane-Jones says Guelph University Professor Ralph Martin will be on hand to share some of his expertise.
Professor Martin will also touch on things like soil retention and nutrient levels.
Midlane-Jones says the event will strengthen the important partnership between the BQRAP and local farmers.
The free event includes the seminars and lunch and will run from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Midlane-Jones is asking anyone interested in participating to contact the Bay of Quinte Remedial Action Plan at 613-394-3915 ext 214 or smidlanejones@bqrap.ca, by the end of the day Thursday, March 17, so they have an idea of numbers.
