The Ontario Provincial Police have launched the annual Distracted Driving Campaign which is province-wide and will continue through until Sunday.
Motorists can expect to see an increase in enforcement on the roadways as officers from all over Central Region will be focusing on the Big Four motor vehicle collision casual factors – speeding, distracted driving, non-seat belt use and impaired driving.
Constable Martin Hachey of Haliburton Highlands OPP says a greater number of families will be travelling on the roadways during the school break and talking on a cellphone or responding to a text message while driving has a lot more than just financial implications.
