For the first time ever, each of the four wards in Quinte West could be facing the exact same local tax increase, if council passes a draft budget as is.
At a special operating budget meeting Monday night, members of Quinte West council will see a proposed budget featuring a 2.44% increase in each ward.
If approved the budget would mean annual tax increases ranging from $58 to $64 a year on the average house value in Quinte West of $201,000.
The draft budget includes $85,000 for a new employee, a “grant research analyst” and proposes $865,000 more be transferred to reserves. The extra money for reserves would come from increases in payments in lieu of taxes coming from CFB Trenton.
The budget meeting begins at 5:00 p.m. Monday at city hall.
