The Hastings-Quinte Emergency Services committee is rejecting a bid by Lennox and Addington to have it financially support the ambulance base at Denbigh in the north year-round.
The Lennox and Addington ambulance base at Denbigh has low call volumes and serves a sparsley-populated area in the northern section, some calls being taken by the Bancroft base, 60 kilometres away.
Hastings County CAO Jim Pine says the committee did not want to help pay for the base but maybe a contract could work.
Pine says another issue is the fact all provincially mandated payments for cross border ambulance services has ended and needs to be renegotiated .
