The fate of the Bethany Community Centre in Belleville’s Thurlow ward is now on hold.
This former school house building, more than 150 years old, has fallen on really hard times and city council has decided to take a cautious approach to any possible rehabilitation.
Property manager Joel Carr-Braint says the foundation has serious cracks and the roof is not good.
Council deleted $70,000 from its operating budget which had been aimed at the Centre but Carr-Braint says he wants to discuss options with the local community group.
