Quinte West’s Mitchell Torres has been honoured by Ontario University Athletics with the “Student Athlete Community Service Award”.
Torres is a track and field star with the University of Guelph Gryphons. He’s been heavily involved with an organization known as “Beyond Us”. They teach at-risk youth about children’s rights by using sports to engage them.
Torres is in his fourth year at Guelph. He’ll be competing in the high jump at this weekend’s Canadian Track and Field championships at York University.
