The organizers of the Trenton Scottish Irish Festival are one step closer to securing a well-known performer for the popular event.
Monday night, Quinte West council signed off on the $30,000 requested for the contract expense portion of the festival budget in 2016.
Now in its 26th year, the event has featured artists Barra MacNeils and Scottish actor Graham McTavish.
The festival committee is also working with Mark Rashotte, owner of the Empire Theatre in Belleville, to deal with entertainment and organize a major concert for Centennial Park.
The musician’s name will not be released until a contract is signed.
