The provincial Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has a better idea of the issues affecting the Quinte Region after hosting a round table talk in Belleville Monday afternoon.
Liberal MPP Jeff Leal spoke with a group of about 15 to 20 people, including local mayors, teachers, students and community leaders, to gauge their feedback on how to make life better for rural Ontarians.
Leal tells Quinte News along with more opportunities for employment and education in rural areas, the panel stressed the need for more ways to get around.
The round table was the second in a series of talks being held across the province as a way to help with policy developments.
Leal’s first talk was in Welland recently and while the rural areas share some similarities, he says the Quinte Region has some crucial differences to overcome.
The discussions will culminate with an Ontario Rural Summit in June.
Leal also says he was extremely impressed by the young leaders he met yesterday telling Quinte News “Ontario’s future is in good hands”.
