Gasps and screams filled the air as close to 50 people jumped into the ice cold waters of the Bay of Quinte in east end Belleville Saturday afternoon.
It was Belleville’s first ever penguin dip, dubbed “Freezin’ for a Reason.”
City of Belleville Councillor Egerton Boyce, wearing a Hawaiian shirt, was the first to take the plunge.

Seven-thousand-four-hundred dollars was raised for the local YMCA’s Strong Kids campaign.
It was organized by students from Loyalist College’s Public Relations course.
