City of Belleville planning staff are recommending that a time consuming review and approvals
process for a well publicized downtown residential/commercial project be waived.
At Monday’s Planning Advisory Committee meeting, staff suggests the committee and council
skip a Condominium review for the proposal to renovate the top 3 floors of Century Place into
condominium units.
City staff writes that the proposal for a maximum of 38 condos and a maximum of 30 commercial
units on the bottom 2 floors is exactly what community leaders want in the downtown core.
If the Planning committee and council agree, the project moves directly to Belleville’s building
department for approvals as it moves forward.
Century Place is now owned by local businessmen Peter Knudsen, Sean McKinney and Ross McDougall.
