Belleville’s electric utility company is warning customers about electricity bill phone scams.
During fraud prevention month, Veridian along with other partners, is working to protect customers by providing tips to help them deal with suspicious phone calls.
Spokesman Chris Mace says the scammers often target older customers, asking personal questions.
Mace says there has been a noticeable increase in this fraudulent activity.
Customers are urged to hang up quickly and call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
