Potential new students for the Sagonaska Demonstration school for students with special needs, on the Sir James Whitney campus in Belleville, are being warned away from the school according to the union representing workers at the school.
President Daryl O’Grady of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, local 456, says parents of the potential students for this fall are receiving notices that their children will not be able to attend the school.
He says the province doesn’t realize how the parents depend on the school.
He says the present students aren’t getting notices because, in his words, “the province doesn’t want to interrupt ” the school year.
