A man originally charged with attempted murder in connection with an incident west of Grafton New Year’s eve has now been charged with murder in connection with the same incident.
On December 31, Northumberland OPP responded to an incident where two people sustained serious injuries at a residence located on County Road 2 in the Grafton area.
Two people from that residence were transported to a Toronto area trauma centre.
Sixty-one-year-old Daniel Stewart Grant of no fixed address was arrested at that time and charged with two counts of attempt murder.
Last week, one of the victims, 82-year-old Delores Byers died from injuries sustained in the New Year’s Eve incident.
Grant is now facing the upgraded charge of first degree murder and is scheduled to appear Cobourg court on March 16.
