A Belleville Police constable is appealing a decision recently made at Police Services Act Hearing. Eric Shorey is appealing a ruling which would have seen him resign or be terminated from the Belleville Police Service.
Constable Shorey was convicted of criminal harassment and breach of trust in 2013 after incidents involving the stalking of a woman and the use of Belleville Police Service equipment to do so.
The deadline for Shorey to resign, be terminated, or appeal was yesterday (Friday).
Belleville Police Chief Cory MacKay says the service is consulting its lawyers regarding the appeal, but for now, Constable Shorey will remain suspended with pay.
Shorey’s appeal is filed with the Ontario Civilian Police Commission.
