A man was killed early last evening after stepping out of his vehicle on highway 401 westbound near Kingston.
His vehicle was involved in a minor accident and as he walked away from it, he was hit by an oncoming vehicle.
The OPP closed the highway for several hours to conduct an investigation.
Meanwhile, there were dozens of minor accidents throughout the region last night due to the forming of black ice.
Roads and highways are safe and open this morning.
