A young sailor from Prince Edward County has just been named the skipper and director of training and development at Canadian Ocean Racing.
Twenty-three year old Sandy Macpherson learned to sail on the Bay of Quinte before heading out to England to earn a degree in navigation and maritine science.
Since then he has sailed the Atlantic and more, one time heading a racing team from Cape Town South Africa to Rio, Brazil.
This year as skipper of the 60 foot sailboat O Canada he’ll be sailing the Atlantic again.
Macpherson is looking for business sponsors for his solo race around the world in 2020.
You can hear host Mary Thomas’s full interview with Macpherson on Newsmaker Sunday this Sunday at the noon hour, on 800 CJBQ.
