The Northumberland Sports Council has launched a new sports helmet lending program to ensure more children can take part in sports.
Northumberland Sports Council President Eugene Todd told our newsroom the program will allow schools and community groups to borrow helmets at no cost, allowing children to safely participate in sports activities that require protective head gear.
Todd says it means children who can’t afford a helmet are able to participate in skating programs at arenas that require the safety gear, and are not left behind in the school room during these athletic programs.
Todd says it’s just one of the areas that can help children.
