Belleville councillors got a first hand look at what goes into plowing our city streets this week.
Councillors Egerton Boyce, Mitch Panciuk and Paul Carr rode along with the Environmental Services Department over night Monday and all day Tuesday as they dug the city out from a record breaking 22.4 cm of snow.
Boyce says it was a real eye-opener providing sand, salt and plowing services as the storm started early Tuesday morning.
Panciuk says the job is not nearly as simple as motorists tend to think it is.
Carr agreed parked cars on City streets posed a real difficulty.
When it comes to who gets first priority, Boyce says the city is divided into certain sections.
Boyce says he has been told that all city sidewalks will be cleared as of Wednesday night.
The trio will swap notes on their experiences and use them when issues come up within the department and at budget time.
