Quinte West council will vote on a staff recommendation to provide $100,000 as seed money to get a big film festival off of the ground at its meeting tomorrow night.
Previously, the city spent $20,000 to hear from two internationally renowned film festival organizers on the feasibility of staging a big event in the city.
The expenditure of $100,000 more will allow more work to be done to organize the festival, which has a preliminary budget of $1.6 million.
Government grants will be applied for, and there would be private sponsorships offered, as well as other fund-raising.
Quinte West council meets tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at city hall.
