The Wellington Dukes will have to wait another day before they can officially qualify for the OJHL playoffs for a 27th consecutive season.
A big third period couldn’t undo their previous 40 minutes as the Dukes lost 3-2 in Kingston. Luc Brown with his 37th and Dylan Mascarin scored for Wellington while Sam Tanguay held his team in the game with 31 saves.
Wellington’s magic number to clinch a post season berth is one. The Dukes are home to the Markham Royals tonight at 7:30 at the Essroc Arena.
Meanwhile the Voyageurs are in Trenton to meet the Golden Hawks for the second time in a week. Trenton also has a magic number of one to clinch first place overall.
Game time is 7:30 at the Dunc McDonald Community Gardens. CJBQ will have the play by play for Dows Climate Care.
In the Empire Junior “C” Hockey League, Riley Steeves short handed goal snapped a 3-3 tie giving the Napanee Raiders a 4-3 win in Picton. Aidan McFarland added a pair in the win.
The Pirates are in Gananoque tonight. A loss will eliminate Picton from the post season picture.
