The OSPCA is looking for a man who threw a sick cat in a dumpster on North Yeomans Street in Belleville between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. yesterday.
OSPCA Officer Tex Ridder tells QuinteNews a keen-eyed witness in a nearby apartment saw the whole thing, but wasn’t able to get a car license plate number.
Ridder says the cat is currently in the care of a local veterinarian.
And he adds, if you find yourself in a situation with a sick animal you can’t care for, there are obviously better ways to handle it.
The vehicle is described as a red or burgundy, older model, Dodge van, with tinted windows.
The witness noted lots of items hanging from the rear view mirror.
The driver is described as a man in his 60s or 70s and was wearing a red and green plaid jacket, greenish insulated pants, work boots and a green ball cap with sunglasses.
Anyone with information can call the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or Crimestoppers.
