It’s been almost 40 years since Belleville hosted a beer festival and organizers of the 2016 Craft Beer by the Bay festival are hoping the dry spell will lead to big tourism numbers.
The last “Bellefest” was at the Memorial Arena in 1977 and now the Quinte Restaurant Association, Bay of Quinte Tourism, Empire Theatre and 15 local brewers will host the new beer tasting event, as part of Quintelicious, on March 12th.
Bay of Quinte Tourism’s Laura Voskamp says beer fests are becoming a huge draw.
Nate Card’s Wildcard Breweries, out of Quinte West, is one of the local beer makers who is taking part.
He says his brewery even has something special in the works for festival-goers.
The festival takes place on March 12th, at Empire Square, in downtown Belleville.
