Quinte Health Care has received a designation for caring for seniors.
It is called NICHE, or Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders.
IN 2014-15, two thirds of acute medicine submissions at QHC hospitals were for those 65 and over.
NICHE Program Coordinator Christine Wilkinson says the whole goal is to improve care for seniors in local hospitals.
As part of bed changes around QHC, Belleville General will have 30 beds designated for elderly patients.
