The Hastings and Prince Edward Board of Health has set its budget in the face of reduced provincial funding.
Today, the board approved a 2016 budget at $15.4 million with a $274,000 drop in provincial funding.
There are staff changes and two positions not filled. The health unit will no longer have an epidemiologist.
It represents a 1.4% hike in the municipal levies.
Belleville, Quinte West, Prince Edward County and Hastings County will be asked to pay a total of $3.274 million.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Richard Schabas says, maybe, the local board could share services with Kingston and Leeds Grenville and save money in the future.
