Brighton council has done the hard slogging and is close to finalizing its budget for this year.
Council wrapped up its last working meeting on the budget yesterday.
The proposed financial plan would see the municipal portion of the budget go up by 2.53 percent.
When Northumberland County, education, and other outside agencies are factored, it’s expected the
budget will increase 2.85 percent over last years.
As it sits, this years budget would mean an 8 dollar a month increase in taxes on a house assessed at the average price of 253 thousand dollars.
