The surge in Freedom of Information requests made to the Municipality of Brighton will be discussed again at a meeting of Brighton council tonight.
Recently, staff revealed that there had been 9 Freedom of Information requests made by residents last year, up from only one in 2014.
In a new report, Deputy Clerk Vicki Kimmett reports that there were actually 12 FOI requests last year, and none the year previous.
The report also outlines many subject areas that must be kept secret no matter how many requests there are.
Meanwhile, there will be more discussion on a controversial sub-division proposed for Brighton at tonight’s meeting of Brighton council.
The development, given draft approval 9 years ago, is called Lakeside Landing and is owned by Mark Walas.
Residents have expressed concerns that the municipal approvals process wasn’t being followed and
that the dumping of fill onto the vacant land has caused water problems in their neighborhood.
Tonight, council will vote on a motion to have staff provide a detailed report on all approvals and communications regarding the proposed sub-division.
Brighton council meets at 6:30 tonight at the municipal office.
