We need to clarify a story we ran last week about a Prince Edward County committee of whole motion that could see its code of conduct policy turned into a By-Law.
As we reported on Thursday January 28, The County could be getting tougher on how it deals with complaints – one being Sophiasburgh councillor Bill Roberts’ letter to the editor that was published in a local newspaper criticizing council’s decision to downsize before the By-Law was enacted.
In his letter to the editor of the Picton Gazette published on January 21, Roberts stated why he opposed the inappropriate status quo, or the “Status Quo Lite” 9-Ward proposal.
The matter was approved by council in November 15, 2015 and The Bi-Law was approved on Tuesday January 26.
Council could have rejected that By-Law as the matter was not finalized.
There was some confusion that the letter had been published after the Bi-law was enacted but that was not the case.
We apologize for any confusion regarding the timeline of Roberts’ letter to the editor as we stated in our original article it was written before the 9 ward plan/By-Law was enacted.
