Hastings County will try to see what it can do regarding concerns by Stirling-Rawdon that it is being treated “unfairly” in connection with provincial funding.
Mayor Rodney Cooney told Hastings County council today that his municipality has lost 600-thousand dollars because of the funding formula, and a total of two-million since he’s been on council.
The 14 Hastings County municipalities will receive a total of 11-point-7 million dollars in 2016, an increase of 465-thousand dollars, but Stirling Rawdon will receive $102,000 less than what it received last year.
County Chief Administration Officer Jim Pine says it concerns farmland.
Pine says the county will check the numbers being used by the province and see if those numbers are correct in setting the amounts used for the Ontario Municipal Partnership funding program.
