They didn’t really want to do it, but Centre Hastings Council has committed to spending just over $4,000 to replace a part on a municipal lift in Madoc.
Centre Hastings Mayor Tom Deline tells Quinte News they didn’t have a choice since the hydraulic hose, on lifts like the one at the Tri Area Medical Centre, are strictly regulated.
In this case, the hydraulic hose needs to be replaced every five years.
But Deline adds, they may not have to worry about the repairs in the future, if visions to upgrade the medical centre end up going ahead.
Councillors had voiced displeasure in having to spend so much on a part that seems to be working fine.
ThyssenKrupp of Kingston is the company who will be doing the work.
