A City of Belleville councillor will ask council to set up four different reserve accounts to place money coming in from the city’s share of slot machine revenue at the new casino.
Councillor Paul Carr will make a motion at councils next meeting asking that proceeds from the casino go in to 4 accounts, infrastructure, economic development, social programs, and one for contingencies.
Carr says the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation wants municipalities to report on exactly what gaming revenues are being spent on.
Councillor Carr says if council approves his motion, 85 percent of the casino money would go into infrastructure spending, and 5 percent in each of the other 3 reserve accounts.
