The province is teaming up with the OPP to fight contraband tobacco.
On the heels of a visit to Quinte region by the National Coalition Against Contraband Tobacco, the province has created a new enforcement team within the OPP.
The unit will be dedicated to investigating the smuggling and trafficking of contraband tobacco.
It is illegal to buy, possess or distribute un-taxed cigarettes, without proper authorization.
Thirty-four percent of tested cigarettes in Quinte in 2015 were contraband.
