The Quinte Humane Society could be ready to open its dog shelter next week after a deadly virus outbreak almost a month ago.
Executive Director Frank Rockett says provided there are no new Parvovirus outbreaks they are ready to open on Monday.
Of the 40 dogs exposed to the virus, 12 dogs died or have been euthanized since December 24.
Frank Rockett says of the 16 that had to be treated at the Toronto Humane Society, 15 survived.
In an effort to try and prevent future outbreaks Rockett says they are teaming up with seven local veterinarians to offer vaccinations at a low cost of $40 from January 25 to January 30.
