Belleville’s Police Budget Committee is going to have to get to work on approving this year’s financial plan, with a deadline from the city looming.
Council has asked all external agencies to submit their budgets by February 26th and is also asking that those budgets include a 0% increase over what was approved last year.
Chief Cory MacKay tells Quinte News she’s setting a date for the committee to meet, but wouldn’t comment on if they’ll meet that 0% increase requirement.
She says, while they always “do whatever they can to keep costs down, they do provide an essential service” to the community.
