The Belleville Police Service responded to 38 calls for service between January 20th, 2016 at 5:00 a.m. and January 21st, 2016 at 5:00 a.m.
Shoplifters
Belleville, Ontario – On January 20th, 2016, at 10:38 a.m. police attended at a grocery store in the city’s north end in relation to a shoplifter. A 48-year old Belleville woman had been arrested by store security for stealing items. She was charged with “engage in prohibited activity on premises” under the Trespass to Property Act. She was released at the scene.
On January 20th, 2016, at 1:18 p.m. police attended at a north department store in relation to a shoplifter. A 45-year old Odessa woman was in custody for stealing merchandise. She was charged with theft under $5000.00 and will appear in court on February 25th, 2016. She was released at the scene.
On January 20th, 2016, at 4:22 p.m. police re-attended at the department store in relation to a shoplifter. A 34-year old Belleville woman had been arrested by store security for stealing items. She was charged with “engage in prohibited activity on premises” under the Trespass to Property Act. She was released at the scene.
Traffic Stop
Belleville, Ontario – On January 21st, 2016, at 1:00 a.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on Station Street. The officer observed a can of beer between the feet of the passenger in the front seat. A further search led to the seizure of approximately 7 grams of marijuana. The three adults in the vehicle were cautioned regarding the possession of a controlled substance. No charges arising.
