Tyendinaga Township has been turned down for funding for a project it says it cannot do alone.
The township has to re-do its stretch of Old Highway #2 and a recent request for $1 million was turned down by the province.
Township Clerk Steve Mercer says the township was rejected, partially because it is in a good financial position.
Mercer says they receive only about $2.2 million in taxes annually and have no way to pay for the multi-million dollar project without provincial or federal help.
He adds that council is going to turn to MP and Tyendinaga resident Mike Bossio to see if the federal government can help.
