Quinte West council will be making a decision on what to do with a piece of property next to the OPP detachment next month.
Monday night, mayor Jim Harrison announced a motion that asks council to cancel the land use agreement with Community Living Quinte West as it pertains to the Community Gardens located on Ontario Street.
Harrison says the land is now needed for the development of the new police station and the community gardens program has moved from being volunteer driven to one the City has been funding for a number of years.
Harrison adds the City can accomplish the same goals in other ways.
The issue will come back to council on February 1.
