Sixty-four brave souls said “to heck with winter, we’re Canadian” and joined volunteers from Prince Edward County Field Naturalists and the Alliance to Protect Prince Edward County on a leisurely stroll along Hilltop and Brewer’s Roads on Saturday. The event was the 2016 inaugural fund raiser for the South Shore Appeal Fund. Drummer Gavin North led the group. Long Dog winery offered warm hospitality and mulled wine at the end of the walk. Over $2400 was raised for the South Shore Appeal Fund.
Organizer Janna McCarthy was pleased with the results of the event. “Getting something like this together over the holiday season was a bit of a challenge”, she admitted, “but in the end, as usual County people came through to make it a successful event.”
Special thanks go to all the walkers and their sponsors and to drummer Gavin North and Victoria Rose and James Lahti at Long Dog Winery.
