The company that provides electricity to Belleville is going to be showcasing the latest in home energy technology.
Veridian has teamed up with Tesla Energy and Opus One Solutions, to demonstrate a home battery called a “power wall,” which gathers energy through solar panels and stores it, in case of a power interruption.
Opus One’s Keyvan Cohanim tells Quinte News, having solar panels is not a prerequisite for getting a power wall.
And Cohanim says Veridian is showing leadership in two areas by taking on the project.
Aside from being a generator for the home, the system can charge electric cars and even feed energy back into the Veridian grid if needed.
The demo system will be set up at the Veridian headquarters in Ajax sometime this summer, then the company will decide how to roll out the technology to customers.
