Things could be starting to turn around at the Quinte Humane Society.
Due to a parvovirus outbreak, 11 dogs have either died or been euthanized since December 24 – eight of which were young puppies in the society’s direct care and three in the community have passed away at various veterinary facilities.
The dog section of the shelter on Avonlough Raod has been under quarantine since December 29.
Executive Director Frank Rocket says the pup that was in the care of a veterinarian at the shelter has recovered.
Rockett says while the cleaning regiment is taking place all the time this ordeal has been the hardest on the 21 dogs that have been under quarantine since December 29.
Rockett says there will be a management meeting on Monday and barring any new outbreaks the Society should be clear by the end of the month.
