Management of the Southeast Local Health Integration Network has had a change of heart and has decided that a representative from the citizens advocacy group, OurTMH, will sit on a new task force aimed at keeping Trenton Memorial Hospital as a viable operation.
OurTMH was not originally named as one of the organizations on the task force, and its chair, John Smylie, called the decision “distasteful”.
Southeast LHIN CEO Paul Huras said his group were unaware of how important OurTMH had become in the community, and admitted making a mistake.
The task force will begin meetings soon.
