Quinte West OPP have completely cleared the scene of where an explosion ripped through a Trenton townhouse Sunday afternoon, sending two people to hospital with serious burns.
Constable David Luddington says while officers are no longer on the scene at 24 Annwood court the investigation is ongoing.
The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office and engineers are still working to determine a cause and whether or not it’s safe for residents to return home.
A resident who lives in the housing complex, where an explosion happened says managers of the property haven’t been keeping them up to date.
The caller to our newsroom, who asked not to be identified, says they’ve lived in the building for a couple of years.
They told us they weren’t one of the families forced out of their home because of the incident, but are still being left in the dark about what happened.
The resident’s biggest concern is that it’s been almost a week since the incident and rumours about the cause are swirling.
Initial communications from the scene indicated two butane tanks and drug making equipment were found in the home but that hasn’t been substantiated by police.
The caller says they just want to know exactly what happened, in case it’s an issue with the homes themselves.
Our newsroom has reached out to the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office and the Quinte West Non-Profit Housing Corporation for further comment.
