The Hastings-Quinte paramedicine pilot project is wrapping up and officials are hoping it will continue on a permanent basis.
Acting chief of emergency services John O’Donnell told the committee the paramedic visits to 60 at-home patients in Belleville and Quinte West averaged 145 visits a month.
He says the number of 911 calls for the patients declined, and gave examples of two patients having no hospital visits during the year.
Administrative officer Jim Pine says the county is asking the province for the $45 people pay toward an ambulance run to finance an ongoing $250,000 paramedicine program.
