Belleville Police Service Deputy Chief Ron Gignac says the victim of Friday’s shooting has been released from hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Officers were called to the residence at 137 O’Neill Drive around 8 p.m. where they found a lone man suffering from gun shot wounds.
The neighbourhood was locked down for a short time while police searched the area for a suspect and as of Monday afternoon the unknown man is still outstanding.
He is described as being in his mid 30s, with a shaved head, trimmed goatee, about 5 foot 8 with a stocky build. He was wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident and then fled in an unknown direction on foot.
Police investigators are also looking for information regarding a suspicious vehicle observed in the area of O’Neill Drive before the incident. The vehicle is described as a dark-coloured four-door sedan.
Police say this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
As we reported Sunday, in a confidential tip to our newsroom, a source indicates this was the result of biker gang related violence.
It is believed that the source of the gang activity originates outside the Quinte region.
Our newsroom has reached out to lead Detective Constable Tim Foster for comment and he says he will be available for comment tomorrow.
