Quinte West OPP and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office continue to look for a cause after a series of explosions sent flames shooting through an apartment complex in Trenton yesterday afternoon.
Two residents, a man and woman in their 20’s were rushed to hospital with serious burns and other injuries.
No one else was injured in the blaze but the force of the explosions caused the back wall to bow and structural engineers are checking if the building is safe before residents are allowed back to their homes. As it stands now there is no timeline yet from OPP, fire investigators or Quinte West Non-Profit Housing as to when residents can return.
Quinte West Constable Dave Luddington says the initial communication reports of butane tanks and drug making equipment found in the apartment haven’t been substantiated and he can’t comment about that until a cause has been determined.
