OPP have arrested and charged a man following an unprovoked assault that occurred early Wednesday morning in downtown Napanee.
Around 7 a.m. a man and woman were walking on Centre Street near the post office when a male unknown to the couple began yelling at them.
The confrontation escalated and a fight ensued.
The suspect fled on foot and was last seen heading westbound through the parking lot beside the post office.
The male victim was transported by ambulance to hospital where he was treated and released.
Charged with assault and breach of probation is 31-year-old Curtis Hummel of Napanee. He is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing this afternoon in Provincial Court in Napanee.
Additional charges against Hummel are pending further investigation.
