The Hastings and Prince Edward Board of Health is getting ready to come under the financial supervision of the Local Health Integration Network.
The provincial government announced late last year that as of April of 2017 the LHIN will become responsible for oversight and accountability of public health finances.
Medical officer of health Dr. Richard Schabas says the LHIN will be invited to meet with the board of health to discuss how this will work out.
Schabas says the province also announced late last year that the local health unit, along with most other units across the province, would not receive any extra money for the next seven years, and maybe the LHIN would be better than the present system in getting more funding.
